Development Seed is deeply committed to the responsibility we have to protecting our Planet and addressing Climate Change. We work with a range of clients from climate scientists, government agencies, and industry who have real-world impact addressing climate resilience issues.
We are seeking a Climate Science Fellow to apply of machine learning and massive data processing to advance our understanding of climate challenges. You will develop open source software and models that extract insights from large datasets, from satellite imagery to transport data. Your work will immediately contribute to equip our partners (in organizations like the World Bank, the Red Cross, the Global Resilience Partnership, and NASA) with powerful knowledge to make better decisions and deliver better services.
The Fellowship is a full-time 10 week position (with permanent potential), competitively paid, and will allow you to learn about the industries and communities we work in, and push our team and projects forward. Your main focus will be on one of our open-source projects that supports accessible, open earth data. However, you will also have the ability to directly contribute on real projects with leading civic and government organizations and have positive real world impact.
You have experience with any of the following:
- Machine Learning Frameworks (TensorFlow, Torch, Caffe, etc.)
- Computer Vision (OpenCV, Scikit, etc.)
- Computer Modeling
- Advanced Math Skills (Linear Algebra, Statistics, Multivariate Calculus, etc.)
- Remotely sensed data and associated libraries (GDAL, QGIS)
- Node.js or Python
