Visible Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data consists of five high resolution Imagery channels - I bands, 16 moderate resolution channels (known as M-bands) and a Day/Night Band (DNB). In this project, we only took DMB as a nightlight dataset.

VIIRS nighttime lights imagery that has been distributed since 2012 by The Earth Observations Group (EOG) at NOAA/NGDC, and is produced as monthly or annual averages. The data is available as mosaics that have been post-processed (i.e., to remove clouds, stray light and lunar illumination). The monthly nighttime lights data was used for this project, which is of high quality and a good representation of average nighttime lights over the month.
